The point of this level is to introduce the children to the sound structure of words. You can see further information and more examples of activities in the Phonological Awareness Package by Sheils & Sawyers.
Making funny sentences
Among the activities suggested for this level I chose this one on making funny sentences. Making funny -even silly- sentences usually works really well with children.
Here you can see the slide from my activity:
In this activity, the objects in the first row are showed to the children at the beginning and then, we show the different places where our characters or objects can be on/in. Children must make sentences rhyming.
These sentences would be:
- The frog is on the log.
- The ball is on the wall.
- The bear is on the chair.
- The bee is on the tree.
- The cat is in the hat.
- The fish is on the dish (poor fish).
- The snail is on the whale (like in the tale).
- The clock is on the rock.
