That was the story we used first this term in Literacy. As you can see, this is a quite particular story with a too abstract end. Children probably don't chew on that as we tend to do.
We used this story to work in the base of every story: the storyboard.

STORYBOARD: RE-TELLING THE STORY
With this story we worked in re-creating the storyboard with pictures and, then, re-writing the story. That was our first contact with Kidspiration Software (you can find information about this resource in the post on Resources for the Literacy Classroom).
The idea of the task with Kidspiration is that the children drag the pictures to the boxes to create the storyboard, so we have to upload the pertinent pictures in the gallery software in advance.

Depending on the age, level, and other features, our pupils will be able to re-tell the story in many different ways and levels of accuracy. We write a little guide on how to work with the story and elicit sentences and texts from Year 1 pupils, but this story can be used in every stage of Primary Education.
You can find some interesting resources to use this story in the Primary Classroom in this page (https://edchat.net), although you need to register - it's free.
