As said in the previous post, we can classify our students in the following groups according to their age:
Very Young Learners: children under seven.
Young Learners: children between seven and twelve.
I thought it would be good to start with this section by pointing out the main differences between the two groups mentioned. This is a little chart I made based on the information from the book 'English for primary teachers' by Slattery and Willis, where you can find more feature of each group (pages 17-18).
As you can see in the charts and more specifically in the book, teaching to YL call for some requirements though, generally, is also easier, as you can take advantage of some features or situations, such as the fact they already can write the letters and are developing as thinkers, so that you can plan and organize best while carrying out activities and you don't have to focus on handwriting that much.
